Why pay expensive short newspaper adverts when you can advertise a description and photo for free if you want, so people get to see what lovely puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, budgies, parrots, cockatoos, horses, ponies, tortoises, rabbits, hamsters, snakes, exotic pets you have for sale.

It is also important that the buyer finds out as much as possible about the pets they intend to buy and ensure they are reputable breeders with good history, animals registered, vaccinated and in good health. Certain pets also require appropriate documents to be obtained in order to keep such a pet such as a tortoise. Scottish SPCA Rehoming Week

This year's Scottish SPCA Rehoming Week runs from 22-28 March. Hopefully we'll see more animals rehomed from our animal rescue and rehoming centres than ever before!

Of course, we rehome animals all year round. But Rehoming Week is all about raising awareness of the rescued animals we have looking for new homes.

Scottish SPCA Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said, "We don't ever encourage 'impulse' rehoming as we advocate responsible pet ownership at all times.

"But while lots of people know we rescue animals, far fewer know that we then need to find them new homes and owners.

"Rehoming Week allows us to increase awareness of the huge variety of animals in our care needing new homes.

"Our animal rescue and rehoming centres are full of lots of different animals, from dogs, cats and rabbits to the less common pets such as reptiles, rodents, birds and exotic animals.

"Casper is a great example of a lovely wee dog in our care who needs a new home. He can be quite an excitable lad and he needs to continue his training but he'll make someone a wonderful companion.

"There really is nothing quite like giving a rescued animal a new home and a second chance in life."
